Ashtanga Yoga is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) and later by his grandson R. Sharath Jois, in Mysore, India. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures, a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
Ashtanga yoga literally means “eight-limbed yoga,” as outlined by the sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. According to Patanjali, the path of internal purification for revealing the Universal Self consists of the following eight spiritual practices:
- Yama – moral codes
- Niyama – self observation
- Asana – posture
- Pranayama – breath control
- Pratyahara – control of the senses
- Dharana – concentration
- Dhyana – meditation
- Samadhi – enlightenment
Mysore is as supervised self practice where the āsanas (postures) are introduced and taught, one at a time, for the student can easily memorize the sequence with both confidence and comfort, ultimately building the skills to move through the practice establishing a sense of empowerment, steadiness and calm. In class the student will advance at their own pace with the guidance of an experienced teacher.
It is recommended, when first starting to commit to at least one month minimum of 3 times per week to accelerate and deepen the learning process.
All students are welcome in Mysore class, regardless of their previous experience, age or physical condition. In fact, in Mysore the teacher can better suit the needs of those who need special attention or guidance in learning.
There will be a Led class twice a month where students will be able to understand the correct vinyasa count and come in direct contact with the flow of the practice uninterrupted.

She quit her job in the international media field and started traveling to Mysore, India, to practice with her teacher and Guru, Sharath Jois.
Thats where following her heart decided to create “Balearic Retreats” and bring some of the Mysore Magic to her home island, Mallorca, Spain, and started organizing retreats with the world´s most renowned teachers.
She spent the following years traveling, teaching and deepening her practice.
In February 2019 Pilar had the honor to receive Sharathji´s blessing (authorization level 2) to share this beautiful practice and started her Mysore Program, Ashtanga Yoga Mallorca in 2020.
